PUB 1

In the play, Antigone by Sophocles, there are many twists and conflicts. It is believed that Antigone was having much respect and love on her brother because when Creon ordered that Polynices shouldn't get a proper burial, she was ready to do it against the moral law and Creon. This shows how much respect and love she has for her brother. Even though when she was stopped by her sister Ismene she was never ready to change her mind. Antigone was basically a woman with more guts and never scared of anything. All through the play, Antigone is on a journey to appropriately cover her disrespected sibling Polyneices, against Creon's law that his body will be forgotten to decay. In antiquated Greek culture, internment rehearses were considered important, in endeavors to make the spirit's voyage into the hereafter the most effortless as could reasonably be expected.

When the sentry was heading to tell Creon about the burial of Polynices he had many internal conflicts within himself "My soul accosted me with different speeches."poor fool, yourself, why are you going somewhere when once you get there you will pay the piper?" "Well, aren't you daring fellow stopping again?" ".(lines 246-251). If Creon gets to know the burial of Polynices from someone else the sentry is going to be in punished ruthlessly. In general, the people of Thebes are really scared of Creon and his laws. Sentry was told to find who was it otherwise he'll be killed.

Later when it was found that the person who buried the corpse was Antigone, Creon was really angry because first, she disobeyed the law and then he says how can a woman disobey it. Creon never considered that even she was from the same blood as him because Creon was not ready to lose against a woman or opposite gender.
"I am no man and she the man if she can win this and not pay for it"(lines 576-577) so this clearly shows how much Creon was against the opposite gender. Creon was not ready to lose against a woman. There are many more instances where it clearly shows that conflict between Creon and Antigone is all about gender. "Go then to the world below, yourself, if you must love. Love them. When I am alive no woman shall rule". These lines above state how cruel are Creon. There is one more instance where there is gender discrimination " Bring her inside, you. From this time forth, these must be woman, and not free to roam."(lines 634-635), Creon was a cruel man and never was ready to hear someones advise or their opinion. So, therefore, the examples above clearly explain that gender was the main reason behind the conflict between Antigone and Creon.
